[Asia Economy Reporter Jinju Han] There is a forecast that Apple will release its augmented reality (AR) headset, 'Apple Glass,' in the first half of next year.
On the 15th (local time), IT specialist YouTuber and Twitter user John Prosser said, "Ming-Chi Kuo's analysis that Apple Glass would be released in 2022 is incorrect. Apple Glass will be released between March and June 2021." John Prosser expects Apple to soon unveil the Apple Glass prototype.
Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF Securities, predicted in an investor note that Apple Glass would be released in 2022. He argued that the product requires advanced stacking technology during development, and due to the device's complexity and high cost, more time is needed before the product is unveiled.
It is also possible that Apple will reveal the AR headset and platform in the first half of 2021 and release them in 2022. IT media outlet MacRumors cited precedents where Apple Watch and HomePod were unveiled several months before release, explaining, "There may be a long time between the unveiling of Apple Glass and its release as a product," and added, "If an SDK for developers is released first, it can buy time to develop apps necessary for the platform."

Apple is reportedly developing two AR-related products: a headset and a slim form-factor glass. The AR headset is expected to adopt lightweight materials such as fabric for long-term wearability, feature a high-resolution display similar to that applied in the iPhone, support a new operating system (OS), and incorporate touch panels, voice activation, and head gesture recognition.
