Court Rules "Former Hankook Tire Cannot Use the Name 'Hankook Technology Group'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The holding company of Hankook Tire Group, 'Hankook Technology Group,' has been legally prohibited from using its name any longer.
According to the legal community on the 15th, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Agreement Division 60 (Presiding Judge U Ra-ok) granted the injunction request filed by Hankook Technology Co., Ltd. against Hankook Technology Group to prohibit the use of the trade name.
The court stated, "Both companies are engaged in holding business and manufacturing and selling automotive parts, so there is a high likelihood that the general public will think they are related," adding, "Even though the listed securities markets are different, KOSDAQ and KOSPI, there is a high possibility that the general public will confuse the two companies during stock trading or related decision-making processes."
Previously, the former Hankook Tire Co., Ltd. established Hankook Technology Group when transitioning to a holding company system and has been using the name since last year.
