Slovenia Declares End of COVID-19, First in Europe
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Slovenia has become the first country in Europe to declare the end of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to local media on the 15th (local time), the Slovenian government announced in a statement the day before that the number of new confirmed cases had been below seven per day for the past two weeks, declaring the end of the outbreak. Prime Minister Anes Jansa said, "Slovenia has been dominated by the epidemic for the past two months," and "Today, Slovenia has the best epidemiological picture in Europe."
With a population of about 2 million, Slovenia has reported a total of 1,464 confirmed cases and 103 deaths since the first confirmed case in March.

Following the declaration of the end, financial support for companies and citizens affected by COVID-19 will be provided only until the end of this month and then discontinued. Those entering from countries outside the European Union (EU) must continue to comply with a 14-day quarantine. Diplomats and freight transport workers are exempt.
