Gangdong-gu Myeongil Neighborhood Park Community Garden 'Pamix Garden' Renovated
Community Garden Transforms into a 'Garden-Style Community Space' for Rest and Experience... Opening Ceremony at 3 PM on the 16th with Simsim Garden Volunteer Group Launch, Unveiling, and Tour
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is reopening the former Myeongil Neighborhood Park community garden as 'Pamix Garden (145-6 Sangil-dong),' an experiential garden open to all residents and a people-centered community space, with an opening ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. on the 16th.
After about five months of construction, Pamix Garden has been transformed from a simple garden into a shared space for relaxation and hands-on experiences.
As a total area of 8,975㎡, it naturally connects with Gangdong-gu’s urban agriculture complex community facility 'Pamix Center,' an apiary, and a smart farm, playing a pivotal role as a hub for urban agriculture in Gangdong-gu, the first of its kind nationwide.
Gangdong-gu reorganized the existing garden plots into experiential gardens, native plant gardens, medicinal herb gardens, garden fields, gardens, and resting areas, enhancing convenience facilities such as trellises (fences), sculptural perches, pavilions, outdoor tables, and chairs. They also created fragrant gardens and conversation gardens planted with various herbs and shrubs like rosemary, lavender, apricot trees, and crabapple trees, as well as a waterside resting garden with a deck connected to the Pamix Center, significantly expanding spaces for residents’ rest and communication.
Pamix Garden’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and once electrical work and CCTV installation are completed, it will remain open until 10 p.m.
Various programs will be held here, including lifestyle art programs such as seasonal cooking and nameplate making using crops grown in the garden, and experiential classes targeting families and socially vulnerable groups.
Additionally, linked with the newly introduced 'Simsim (心心) Garden Volunteer Group’s Simtong (心通) Package' project, harvested garden produce will be packaged and donated to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and low-income households, promoting shared values through urban agriculture.

Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon of Gangdong-gu said, “I hope the newly reborn Pamix Garden will become a community space for education, experience, and sharing where nature and people harmonize, and a landmark of urban agriculture that enriches the lives of our residents.”
