[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 12th that it will supply 'seafood packages' for school meals to approximately 21,000 elementary and middle school students' households in 86 schools within the district, following high school students.
Since the 28th of last month, the city has been supplying seafood packages to all high school recipients in the district using free meal food expenses to support fishing households and seafood companies that have lost sales channels and are in crisis, and to ease the burden of food expenses on families due to the delay in school openings. It has decided to supply seafood packages to elementary and middle schools fully funded by the city.
The seafood packages are composed of three semi-dried rockfish and two red sea bream per student, worth about 30,000 KRW, the same as for high school students.
After obtaining personal information consent at schools, the packages will be sent collectively by courier and will be supplied sequentially from the 13th in accordance with the school attendance schedule.
