Neowiz Reports Operating Profit of 13.6 Billion KRW in Q1, Up 80% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Neowiz announced on the 12th that its sales in the first quarter reached 66.3 billion KRW, and operating profit was 13.6 billion KRW. These figures represent an 8% and 80% increase respectively compared to the same period last year.
Looking at sales by segment, domestic sales grew 31% year-on-year to 43.4 billion KRW. According to Neowiz, board games experienced a seasonal peak, with PC and mobile sales rising together based on a multiplatform environment, driving domestic sales. Additionally, new mobile games such as 'With Heroes' and 'Golf Challenge' also contributed to the sales increase.
Neowiz explained, "From the second quarter, we expect positive effects from the easing of web board game regulations." In April, Neowiz obtained international RNG (Random Number Generator) certification for five types of Go-Stop and poker games currently in service.
Overseas sales recorded 22.9 billion KRW. Due to a decline in sales of 'Brown Dust' and a decrease in the Japan open effect of 'Kingdom of Heroes,' overseas sales decreased by 20% compared to the same period last year. Neowiz plans to increase sales through new releases and global market expansion strategies for existing games.
Neowiz is accelerating preparations for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) version of 'Bless Unleashed,' which was first released on Xbox One. The PC package game 'Skul,' scheduled for official release this October, was recognized for its unique gameplay and surpassed 100,000 copies sold within one month of its early access launch. Another PC package game, 'Metal Unit,' is also preparing for official release. Skul and Metal Unit plan to expand to various console platforms after launch.
