As Expected, the 'National Car' Grandeur Tops Domestic Sales for Two Consecutive Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Motor's Grandeur has secured the title of 'national car' by ranking as the best-selling domestic model for two consecutive months.
According to the automotive industry on the 10th, Hyundai's Grandeur sold 15,000 units in April alone, becoming the best-selling car in the domestic market. The Grandeur, which launched its facelift model at the end of last year, has ranked first in domestic sales for three months this year?January, March, and April?except for February.
Notably, among the 15,000 Grandeur units sold last month, 3,434 units (23%) were hybrid models, establishing the Grandeur as a new standard for eco-friendly vehicles.
Even before the facelift model was released, the Grandeur sold 103,349 units last year, comfortably joining the '100,000-unit club' and becoming the best-selling car in the domestic market. This year, with the new facelift model gaining popularity, forecasts are already suggesting that the Grandeur will be the best-selling car of the year.
Despite being a facelift model launched in November last year, the Grandeur attracted significant attention from domestic consumers due to its near-new car level changes. It increased its size in terms of wheelbase, width, and length to enhance practicality while emphasizing the identity of a sedan, with its luxurious interior design receiving particular praise.
Additionally, it applied a wide range of advanced convenience features such as an air purification system, forward collision-avoidance assist, and the second-generation smart posture control system, while offering a horizontally structured trim lineup to broaden consumer choices.
