'Itaewon COVID-19 Confirmed Case' Occurs, Tmax "All Business Locations Closed" (Update)
"All Employees Indefinitely Working from Home... Additional Testing Planned"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] TmaxSoft (hereinafter Tmax) announced on the 8th that it has closed all business sites and is conducting tests for all employees following the occurrence of confirmed cases of COVID-19 among its staff.
A 29-year-old male employee, Mr. A, residing in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, tested positive for COVID-19 on the 6th, and his coworker Mr. B was also confirmed positive on the same day.
In a statement released that day, Tmax said, "Upon confirmation of the second confirmed case, we immediately closed all business sites including the workplace of the confirmed case and have implemented indefinite work-from-home measures for all employees," adding, "Only about 10 to 20 essential response personnel remain at the headquarters."
They also stated, "An epidemiological investigation is underway for employees who had contact with the second confirmed case, and additional self-quarantine and COVID-19 testing will be conducted for 12 people," and "The company plans to conduct additional COVID-19 testing for all employees."
According to Tmax, Mr. A had been on personal leave from April 30 until his positive diagnosis on the 6th and did not work at the company during that period. Tmax explained, "Since the last working day was three days before symptom onset, the workplace was not included in the epidemiological investigation," and "On the afternoon of the 6th, in consultation with the quarantine authorities, all employees working in the building were sent home and emergency disinfection was carried out."
Furthermore, they said, "Subsequently, quarantine officials visited the workplace to conduct an epidemiological investigation, and among 44 internal employees identified as close contacts of Mr. A, self-quarantine and COVID-19 testing were conducted, resulting in one positive and 43 negative cases."
