According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 8th, due to the influence of a low-pressure system moving northeast near the Shandong Peninsula in China from 6 PM, rain will begin along the Jeonnam West Coast and expand to most areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam from 9 PM.
This rain is expected to stop from the afternoon of the 9th.
In particular, accompanied by gusts and thunder/lightning, heavy rain of over 30mm per hour is expected on the Jeonnam coast, and around 10mm per hour in the Jeonnam inland areas.
As of the morning of the 9th, a ‘Heavy Rain Preliminary Warning’ will be issued for Jindo, Sinan, Wando, Heuksando, and Hongdo.
Expected rainfall amounts are 50?100mm for the Jeonnam coastal areas and 30?80mm for Gwangju and Jeonnam inland areas.
On the Jeonnam coast, strong winds with maximum instantaneous speeds of 70 km/h (20 m/s) are expected in some places, and currently, a strong wind advisory has been issued for Heuksando and Hongdo. In the late afternoon, a strong wind preliminary warning will also be issued for Geomundo and Chodo.

Due to the strong winds, sea waves will rise to 2?4 meters high. Additionally, between 3 AM and 6 AM on the 9th, during the astronomical tide, the sea level will be higher, and with the high tide coinciding with the approaching developed low-pressure system, the sea level along the Jeonnam West Coast is expected to rise even further.
