Gwanak-gu Continues Warm Sharing to Overcome COVID-19
Despite the Transition to Living with Social Distancing, Warm Sharing from Local and Non-local Companies Continues
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is becoming a hot topic as companies continue to show warm kindness to overcome COVID-19.
On April 29, the Boramae Support Association (President Kim Jong-su) delivered 150 bags of 10kg rice and 150 boxes of ramen to 150 low-income households facing crises due to reduced working hours and unpaid leave caused by COVID-19.
The Boramae Support Association started in 1997 as a volunteer group of Boramae Hospital staff, providing medical and in-kind support to low-income patients and socially marginalized groups. It has been practicing warm sharing in Gwanak-gu for six years this year.
Earlier, on April 13, the social enterprise Good Travel located in Gwanak-gu (CEO Na Hyo-woo) donated 1,000 packs of wet wipes worth 1 million won to two local childcare centers (Sangnok Childcare Center and Dongmyeong Child Welfare Center).
Na Hyo-woo, CEO of Good Travel, said, "Although the travel industry is going through a difficult time due to the sharp decline in tourists caused by COVID-19, we were able to support thanks to the help of the 'Good Travel Community (People Who Fell for Good Travel)' members," adding, "I am glad to practice sharing for neighbors who are having an even harder time during these difficult times."
