[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Namyang Dairy Products denied allegations that it systematically posted internet posts and comments criticizing competitors, stating that it was due to the arbitrary judgment of an employee.
On the 7th, Namyang Dairy Products issued a statement on its homepage, saying, "We deeply apologize for causing concern to our customers," and explained, "In the overheated promotional competition situation, an employee arbitrarily judged that there was no problem because Maeil Sangha Organic Farm is located about 4 km from a nuclear power plant, which is a fact, during the process of consulting with an online promotion agency, leading to controversy."
The person involved has been cooperating sincerely with the police investigation for about a year and is awaiting the results.
Earlier, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced that it had booked seven people, including Hong Won-sik, chairman of Namyang Dairy Products, on charges such as defamation for continuously posting defamatory posts and comments about competitors on online mom cafes using a promotional agency since early last year, and is currently investigating.
