Gwangju City to Recruit Students for Artificial Intelligence Academy Until the 31st
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Artificial Intelligence Academy is recruiting trainees.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 3rd, the recruitment period is until the 31st, and applicants will take an online basic course from the 21st of this month to the 17th of next month.
In the online course, trainees will receive 160 hours of education on AI overview, programming language Python, and more.
Eligibility is from 18 to 39 years old, with no requirements on academic background, major, grades, or residence, but applicants must have sufficient learning ability to pass the selection test.
The selection test will be conducted online on the 20th of next month using the platform called ‘Programmers,’ widely used by IT companies such as Naver and Kakao. The evaluation includes numerical and spatial reasoning, Python language skills and related knowledge comprehension, and algorithms.
Gwangju City will conduct on-site lectures from July at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Center located in the Advanced Science Industrial Complex for the 180 people who pass the selection test.
Then, until August, trainees will complete 320 hours of intermediate and advanced courses including AI algorithms, machine learning, deep learning, big data analysis, and cloud computing services. From September to November, they will conduct 480 hours of AI convergence project practice focused on specialized industries and public sectors such as automobiles, energy, healthcare, and cultural contents.
To this end, Gwangju City will prepare six classrooms, collaboration rooms, and project rooms on the 2nd floor of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Center, accommodating 30 people, starting this month.
Additionally, to provide an environment where trainees can focus solely on education, a dormitory for 60 people will be prepared, and commuting trainees will receive education incentives. Trainees with excellent grades will be given opportunities such as competition prize money and overseas visits to advanced AI regions.
Gwangju City expects to nurture about 150 AI specialized talents through this program.
