Minister of Construction Infected with COVID-19 Following the Prime Minister
[Asia Economy International Bureau Reporter] The Russian Prime Minister and the Minister of Construction have consecutively contracted the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Vladimir Yakushev, Russia's Minister of Construction and Housing, was reported to have contracted COVID-19, according to AFP citing local media on the 1st (local time).
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also disclosed his COVID-19 infection during a video conference with President Vladimir Putin the previous day and announced that he would enter self-quarantine.
As of this date, Russia has a cumulative total of 114,431 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Although movement restrictions were strengthened early in the outbreak, the number of infections has recently increased rapidly, making Russia the eighth country in the world with the highest number of infections. The cumulative death toll is 1,169.
