Samsung Display Asan Plant Shutdown Due to Fire... "No Casualties"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] A fire broke out at Samsung Display's Asan plant on the 1st, causing the factory to halt operations.
According to Samsung Display, the fire occurred around 2:20 PM at the A3 line of Campus 2 in the Asan plant.
The fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes, and there were no casualties. The fire broke out in a product support facility housing transformers, and the cause is presumed to be related to the transformer.
A Samsung Display official stated, "We are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage."
The fire has inevitably caused production disruptions. Since display manufacturing requires recalibration once operations stop, recovery takes time.
Regarding factory operations, the official said, "Some parts are still not operational," and added, "We will restore operations as quickly as possible."
