[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will additionally select 'Nadaum Children's Books' that embody gender sensitivity this year and distribute them to elementary schools.
On the 21st, the Ministry announced that it will continue the 'Nadaum Children's Book Education and Culture Project' this year in collaboration with Lotte Holdings and the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, following last year.
'Nadaum Children's Books' are publications that guide children and adolescents to break free from gender stereotypes and prejudices through reading, respect diversity, and learn and find their own identity beyond masculinity or femininity.
The Ministry selected 134 titles as Nadaum Children's Books last year and will additionally select new titles published since May of last year.
Furthermore, a Nadaum Children's Book Creation Contest will be held. The contest is divided into three categories: picture books, full-length fairy tales, and short fairy tales, and both established and new authors can apply. Winners will receive a plaque and a monetary prize as creative support.
