Not only in food but also in products that come into direct contact with the skin for long periods, the use of organic materials is increasing, and organic materials are also being applied to home interior products.
Audrey Sun recently launched the sanitary pad ‘TCF Double Core,’ a product made from organic materials. From the sanitary pad top sheet to the primary absorbent core and the leak-proof wings that frequently contact the skin, 100% organic cotton is applied. To compensate for the insufficient absorbency of organic sanitary pads, 100% natural pulp certified by PEFC from Scandinavia is used as the secondary absorbent core. The manufacturing process of organic cotton and natural pulp applies the TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) bleaching method to enhance safety and ensure eco-friendly treatment.
Lee Hwajin, CEO of Audrey Sun, explained, “Since people with sensitive skin often look for organic sanitary pads, the TCF Double Core product uses organic and naturalist materials to enhance safety,” adding, “By developing the secondary absorbent core to strengthen absorbency, it is the most advanced product among existing sanitary pads.”
The trend of adding eco-friendly values to living spaces is also expanding. The range of application has widened from small items like natural indoor air fresheners to bedding and interior finishing materials surrounding the home.
Bedding company Evejari recently introduced ‘Highway,’ which applies antibacterial and detoxifying functions using organic hemp material. It is a modal-hemp material product combining hemp grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers and beech tree extract modal. It has a 97.5% antibacterial and detoxifying effect, preventing bacteria such as Staphylococcus from inhabiting the fiber surface and causing less skin irritation. It also excels in moisture and heat regulation due to its excellent durability and breathability.
Eco-friendly, non-toxic paints are also popular as interior finishing materials. Noroo Paint’s Soon & Soo is an eco-friendly type of interior water-based paint that contains almost no volatile organic compounds or heavy metals. It meets the antibacterial and anti-mold performance standards of the ‘Health-Friendly Housing Construction Standards’ implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Its excellent smoothness and workability allow it to be applied softly and easily without much effort, making it suitable even for beginners.
