Chairman Park Hyun-joo of Mirae Asset Donates Entire 1.7 Billion Won Dividend This Year
Donating Full Amount for 10 Years... Total Accumulated Amount 25 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Park Hyun-joo, Chairman of Mirae Asset Financial Group, has decided to donate all of his dividends again this year. The total amount donated over the past 10 years through this method reaches 25 billion KRW.
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 30th that Chairman Park decided to donate the entire 1.6 billion KRW dividend for 2019, confirmed at the company's shareholders' meeting. Including 100 million KRW in dividends from Mirae Asset Capital, the total donation amounts to 1.7 billion KRW. Accordingly, Chairman Park will have donated a total of 25 billion KRW in dividends from 2010 through this year.
Chairman Park's donations are used for scholarship programs and social welfare projects through the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation. A representative program is the Mirae Asset Overseas Exchange Student Program. Each year, 700 overseas exchange students are selected and supported with tuition and living expenses. Since the first selection in 2007, 5,817 students from 50 countries have been supported to date.
