"South Korea COVID-19 Test Kit Named 'Dokdo'": Blue House Petition Surpasses 200,000 in 3 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spreads worldwide, the number of countries requesting imports of Korean COVID-19 diagnostic kits is increasing, and a Blue House petition asking to name these diagnostic kits "Dokdo" surpassed 200,000 signatures in just three days.
On the 25th, a petition titled "Please name the export COVID-19 diagnostic kits 'Dokdo'" was posted on the Blue House petition board. The petitioner stated, "Countries around the world recognize South Korea as a model case for overcoming COVID-19, and recently, U.S. President Donald Trump also cooperated (requested) the provision of our diagnostic kits," and requested, "Please name the exported diagnostic kit products 'Dokdo.'"
He added, "If exported under the name Dokdo, the status of Dokdo as a guardian deity protecting the Earth is expected to be greatly enhanced."
Meanwhile, many overseas countries where COVID-19 has occurred have requested exports of South Korean COVID-19 diagnostic kits. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of the 26th, 51 countries have inquired about or requested imports of diagnostic kits, and 50 countries have inquired about humanitarian aid.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Going forward, through this task force (TF), we plan to take a leading role in international cooperation efforts to respond to COVID-19 by expanding overseas advancement of diagnostic kits and support through international organizations such as the UN."
