[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province and Chungnam Technopark have been finally selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Internet & Security Agency’s ‘2020 Information Security Support Center New Establishment Contest Project.’
According to the province on the 27th, the contest project aims to establish an Information Security Support Center in the selected region to lay the foundation for information security within the area and protect the information and technological capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Following this selection, the province expects to support 125,917 SMEs within the province that are exposed to core information leaks and cyber threats.
The center establishment project will be promoted by receiving 120 million KRW in national funding this year (first year) to build infrastructure and operate it, and an additional 220 million KRW in national funding next year (second year) to construct the center.
In the future, the center is expected to perform roles such as on-site consulting including information security level diagnosis, web vulnerability inspections, and protection measures for customer information and sensitive data.
Additionally, the province plans to discover and promote customized information security support services considering regional characteristics and specialized industries.
