Yeonggwang-gun, Installation and Opening of ‘e-Mobility Driving Lane’ on County Road No. 24
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 26th that on the 24th, it installed and opened an e-mobility driving lane on the Gun-do Route 24 expansion and widening project section connecting National Road 22.
The Gun-do Route 24 (from in front of Towoo Restaurant to the connection with National Road 22) had a narrow road width and a curved alignment toward the connection with National Road 22, posing accident risks. The county invested a total project cost of 900 million KRW to expand the existing two lanes to three lanes and installed an e-mobility driving lane (1.75m wide) 1.8 km long on both sides of the road.
Additionally, a dedicated road exclusively for e-mobility and a priority road where e-mobility and vehicles can drive together were opened.
The county plans to additionally install a driving lane on Jungang-ro within Sportium by the end of this month, connecting it with this route to provide e-mobility test drive opportunities to visitors attending future sports events.
Governor Kim Jun-seong said, “This road will serve as a foundation for the designation of the e-mobility regulatory free zone that the county is promoting together with Jeollanam-do,” and added, “It will become a role model for e-mobility driving lanes installed in local tourist sites and city roads in the future.”

He continued, “The county attracted an e-mobility research center to leap forward as a leading city in the e-mobility industry and is focusing its administrative capabilities across the entire e-mobility industry, including continuous promotion of national research and development projects and investment attraction, development of an open platform for electric vehicles for small and medium-sized enterprises, and construction of an e-mobility specialized knowledge industry center.”
