Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Converts Hiring Authority for Public High School Cooks to Superintendent
Expectations for Employment Security, Reduction of School Administrative Tasks, and Unification of Personnel and Labor Management
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Jang Hwikuk) announced on the 26th that the hiring authority for 145 cooks working at public high schools will be transferred to the superintendent starting from the 1st of next month.
Until now, the hiring authority for cooks working at public high schools was held by the school principals. This transfer of hiring authority to the superintendent is part of the full implementation of free school meals and the 9th superintendent's (3rd direct election) campaign promises.
Accordingly, the Gwangju Office of Education expects to directly hire and manage cooks, which will lead to employment stability, unified personnel and labor management, efficient workforce management, and a reduction in school administrative tasks, thereby promoting the efficiency of educational administration.
