On the 24th, KDHC announced on the 25th that it signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Kuwait Abdullah New City District Cooling Project" with SECL at the Samsung Engineering Global Center in Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
The agreement was signed for the joint development and execution of the Kuwait Abdullah New City district cooling project.
The two companies will cooperate to successfully carry out projects such as establishing district cooling business strategies and related institutional frameworks.
KDHC expects to systematically promote the Kuwait district cooling project by combining its excellent district cooling technology with Samsung Engineering's abundant Middle East business experience and know-how.
Previously, in October 2018, KDHC signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to participate in the Abdullah New City district cooling project.
Going forward, a consortium centered on domestic companies will be formed to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Kuwaiti government and acquire the status of project operator.
Kim Pansu, Head of KDHC's Energy Innovation Headquarters, said, "Starting with this agreement, we will continue to strengthen collaboration with domestic companies to successfully carry out overseas district cooling projects," adding, "As a public enterprise, we will continuously support domestic private companies' overseas expansion."
Meanwhile, the Abdullah New City project is Kuwait's first smart city development project being promoted through cooperation between the two governments.
