Gwangju Buk-gu Selected for 'Local Lifelong Education Activation Support Project' Competition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 25th that it has been selected for the third consecutive year in the '2020 Regional Lifelong Education Activation Support Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Education targeting 167 lifelong learning designated cities nationwide.
This project was prepared to provide residents with more diverse educational opportunities through the activation of regional lifelong learning, and Buk-gu was the only district in Gwangju City to be selected, receiving 28 million KRW in national funding.
Accordingly, starting in May, Buk-gu will operate the ‘Il·It·So (Creative Studio Connecting Daily Life)’ program, a learning-type job specialization project targeting local residents such as youth and women with career interruptions, with a total project budget of 58 million KRW including national and city funds.
The operating programs include six courses: ▲Book Studio ▲Creator Studio ▲Cafe Studio ▲Reuse Power Plant ▲Goods Makers Workshop ▲Memory Workshop, conducting on-site education and job experiences based on various daily life tasks.
Buk-gu plans to successfully promote this year’s ‘Creative Studio Connecting Daily Life’ project following the 2018 ‘Production Studio Connecting Daily Life’ and 2019 ‘Power Plant Connecting Daily Life’ projects, establishing a specialized model of ‘learning-type job creation.’

Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, “Through this project, we will eliminate blind spots in lifelong learning and expand learning-type jobs,” adding, “We will continue to develop various lifelong education programs to improve the quality of life for residents.”
