Hwasun-gun to Pay Activity Allowances to Participants of Suspended Senior Job Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeonnam (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 24th that it will advance one month's worth of activity fees to participants in the senior job program, which was completely suspended due to the spread of COVID-19.
With the senior job program halted for over a month due to COVID-19, participating elderly who relied on the program for living expenses and pocket money are facing difficulties in maintaining their livelihoods.
The county decided to pay approximately 4400 participants in seven public interest-type senior job programs 270,000 won each for one month's activity fees, totaling over 1.2 billion won, by the end of this month.
Once the senior job program resumes, the county plans to adjust the monthly activity hours (30 hours) by increasing them to account for the advanced activity fees.
Participants in the public interest-type senior job programs had been working 30 hours per month and receiving 270,000 won as activity fees, but the program was fully suspended from the 7th of last month.
The timing for resuming the program remains uncertain due to the spread of COVID-19.
