On the 24th, the Ministry of National Defense announced that it has issued unit management guidelines related to the approximately two-week 'social distancing' campaign until April 5th to suppress the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The military will continue to control soldiers' leave, outings, overnight stays, and visits until the 5th of next month. These control measures may be extended depending on the COVID-19 situation.
The scope of preventive quarantine within the military has been expanded to include all overseas travelers and those who have visited special disaster areas. New recruits with overseas travel experience immediately before enlistment must be quarantined preventively without exception. Unit gatherings, private meetings, and club activities are prohibited, and officers must remain in the unit dormitory after work. If there is a reason to go out, approval from the commander must be obtained.
Military golf courses (fitness centers) will also be closed until the 5th of next month. Civilians are not allowed to use military golf courses during this period. Religious events inside and outside the base are suspended but replaced by watching videos produced by each denomination or via YouTube channels.
