Lee Eun-jae, Who 'Left the Party,' Returns to Jeon Kwang-hoon's Side... "United Party Nomination Only Fulfills Presidential Candidates' Self-Interest"
Likely to Run as Proportional Representative
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Lee Eun-jae, a lawmaker who was cut off (excluded from nomination) in the United Future Party's nomination process, is moving to Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon's Christian Liberty Unification Party to seek election as a proportional representative.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly's Press Hall to announce his departure from the United Future Party and his entry into the Liberty Unification Party.
Upon leaving the party, he criticized, "Looking back, the United Future Party was powerless in the fight against the Moon Jae-in administration, and as a result, it failed to meet the expectations of the people."
He continued, "Moreover, seeing that I was excluded from the nomination under the pretext of innovation, I felt that there was neither future nor unity anymore," and fiercely condemned, "The United Future Party's nomination was a fraudulent show to select only yes-men for the next presidential candidate."
He shot back, "Rather than fighting more strongly to end the incompetent Moon administration, it will become a party with no hope or future, solely focused on internal hegemony to satisfy the selfish desires of a petty next presidential candidate, so I intend to leave the party today."
Lee stated, "It is an urgent task for the free right-wing, which stood at the forefront of the anti-Jo Guk and anti-Moon Jae-in struggles, to emerge as a political subject and achieve political consolidation," adding, "I have decided to dedicate the remainder of my political life to this mission, and that is why I am joining the Liberty Unification Party."

He said, "I was able to leave the party without burden because the Liberty Unification Party confirmed its policy to prevent the tragedy of vote splitting among right-wing parties in constituency elections leading to the victory of left-wing parties," and urged, "Please choose the Liberty Unification Party in the party vote that decides 47 proportional representatives, and concentrate your votes on conservative parties in constituency votes."
