Statistics Korea Establishes 'Statistics Data Center' in Gwangju... Expanding Regional Hub Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The Statistics Korea announced that it will open a Statistical Data Center in Gwangju, following Seoul, Busan, and Daejeon, to securely link and analyze statistical data, and will start public services from the 23rd.
Since November 2018, Statistics Korea has been operating Statistical Data Centers equipped with security systems to link and analyze statistical data with other public and private institution data, and is expanding regional hub centers for users to conveniently visit and use.
The newly established Statistical Data Gwangju Center is located at the Gwangju Integrated Government Building (Nara-Kium), easily accessible to various data demand groups such as government, research institutions, and companies in the Honam region, and operates with an analysis platform of 12 seats.
With the establishment of the Gwangju Center, the data available at the Statistical Data Centers will include not only the existing data such as 14 types of administrative statistical data like population and business registration statistics and 22 types of private data, but also 4 additional types such as card and credit data.
Additionally, the Gwangju Center also provides a Microdata Utilization Center (RDC) function for academic and research purposes, enhancing user convenience.
Data analysis demanders can visit the center directly to link and conduct in-depth analysis of various large-scale data, and can receive consulting from full-time analysis experts at the center or request customized analysis services.

Kang Shin-wook, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, said, "The Statistical Data Center will play a pioneering role in promoting the safe use of data following the amendment of the Data 3 Act," and added, "With the establishment of the Gwangju Center, we will continue to improve accessibility and usability for various users."
