[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Former Blue House spokesperson Kim Eui-gyeom has joined the Open Democratic Party, which was led by former lawmakers Jeong Bong-ju and Sohn Hye-won.
On the 20th, the Open Democratic Party announced that it had selected former spokesperson Kim, former National Assembly member Kim Jin-ae, former Hanwha Securities CEO Joo Jin-hyung, former Blue House Secretary for Public Office Discipline Choi Kang-wook, and former Daegu National Tax Service Commissioner Ahn Won-gu as candidates for nomination screening.
Former spokesperson Kim had applied for nomination to run in Gunsan, Jeonbuk under the Democratic Party of Korea, but was hindered by a real estate speculation controversy during his tenure as spokesperson. Former lawmaker Kim was an active figure in raising issues about the Four Major Rivers Project during the 18th National Assembly.
Additionally, they recruited former Ministry of Justice Human Rights Bureau Chief and Prosecution Reform Promotion Support Team Leader Hwang Hee-seok, Seo Jeong-seong, chairman of the Gwangju Nam-gu Medical Association, broadcaster Kim Seong-hoe, lawyer Jo Dae-jin, and labor activist Hwang Myeong-pil from Ulsan's Nosamo.
