Suspected Infection on Flight from London... 60-Year-Old American Woman in Gangnam-gu Confirmed Positive
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] A suspected case of COVID-19 in-flight infection on a passenger flight from London to Seoul was reported on the 19th.
According to Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a 60-year-old American woman living in Cheongdam-dong visited her daughter living in London, UK, from February 16 to March 14, and arrived at Incheon Airport on the afternoon of the 14th via an Asiana Airlines flight from London. The woman showed mild headache and muscle pain symptoms from the 15th, and on the afternoon of the 18th, she developed a high fever of 38.9 degrees Celsius.
After hearing news that a person in their 20s who took the same flight was confirmed positive, she was tested at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center on the 18th and received a positive diagnosis on the morning of the 19th.
According to epidemiological investigation by quarantine authorities, the woman was seated three rows behind the confirmed patient in their 20s on the airplane. She is currently managed as patient number 17 in Gangnam-gu.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man living in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, went on a business trip to Manila, Philippines, from March 10 and returned on the morning of the 14th via an Asiana Airlines flight. The man developed chills and a high fever of 38.1 degrees Celsius from the 16th, was tested at the drive-thru testing site at Jamsil Sports Complex on the morning of the 18th, and was confirmed positive that same afternoon.
