Hampyeong-gun Extends Local Children's Center Closure for 2 More Weeks
Emergency Contact System Maintained, 'Urgent Care' and Others Operating Normally
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do (acting county governor Na Yunsu) will extend the closure of 13 local children's centers for two more weeks until the 5th of next month.
On the 19th, Hampyeong-gun announced that following the nationwide postponement of kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school openings announced by the Ministry of Education on the 17th, the closure period of local children's centers, originally until the 22nd, will be extended by two weeks.
This measure was implemented as it was reassessed that the Jeollanam-do region, which had been relatively quiet, is no longer a safe zone from infectious diseases, especially after new COVID-19 cases were reported recently in Hwasun.
During this extended closure period, staff at the local children's centers will maintain an emergency contact system and continue normal work such as emergency care.
This is to minimize care gaps such as meal service losses due to the prolonged closure.
Accordingly, daily individual monitoring will be conducted for children who have difficulty receiving care at home, and continuous meal support such as lunchboxes will be provided for children at risk of missing meals.
A county official stated, “We have urged facility workers participating in emergency care to comply with personal hygiene rules such as hand washing and wearing masks, as well as to conduct fever checks and facility disinfection,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to prevent the regional spread of infectious diseases and minimize childcare gaps.”
