[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 19th that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Education’s ‘High School Credit System Leading District Support Project’ competition.
The ‘High School Credit System Leading District Support Project’ is divided into the basic project, the High School Credit System Leading District Support Project, and an additional project, the Educational Conditions Improvement Project for Educationally Disadvantaged Areas.
Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education applied for two leading districts (Bitgaram Naju Innovation District, Haenam·Gangjin·Jangheung District) and the Educational Conditions Improvement Project for Educationally Disadvantaged Areas, and was selected for all.
This project aims to establish a cooperative system among institutions such as high schools, education offices, local governments, and universities within the region, supporting the preparation for the introduction of the high school credit system in educationally disadvantaged areas such as farming and fishing villages and remote islands, and strengthening the educational capacity of general high schools.
The Provincial Office of Education plans to identify basic resources for each school to build and operate a network among schools to establish a cooperative system within the local educational community, and develop and support a regionally specialized curriculum operation model for high schools in the region through the operation of an Education Cooperation Center jointly participated by the education office and local governments.
In addition, to establish the foundation for the introduction of the high school credit system in educationally disadvantaged areas, a pool of teachers and instructors within the province will be prepared and utilized, and a curriculum completion guidance team will be formed for each school to build a one-stop career and academic planning support system. Furthermore, support for expanding subject selection rights will be provided through joint online and offline curriculum operation among schools, and various learning opportunities for students will be offered through community linkage.
To strengthen the educational capacity of general high schools, training to enhance teachers’ expertise in guiding students’ career and academic planning and curriculum planning and operation will be conducted, and training courses to cultivate teaching capabilities in subjects and specialized subjects to expand student choice will also be operated.
