On the 19th, Samsung Electronics announced that Vice Chairman Lee visited the Samsung Display Asan plant to inspect the display panel production line and review business strategies.
The company explained that Vice Chairman Lee's visit to the Asan plant was to ensure thorough preparation for future businesses, the core mission of a business leader, alongside overcoming the immediate crisis amid the unprecedented uncertainty in the global economic environment caused by COVID-19.
The visit was attended by Kim Ki-nam, Vice Chairman and Head of Samsung Electronics' DS (Device Solutions) Division, Lee Dong-hoon, President of Samsung Display, Kwak Jin-oh, Head of the Display Research Institute, and Shin Jae-ho, Head of the Management Support Office.
Vice Chairman Lee said, "It will be difficult due to unexpected variables, but we must not stop even for a moment. We should be cautious yet boldly break beyond existing frameworks. Wisdom is needed to foresee the post-crisis period, and we must continue to challenge without wavering."
Samsung plans to lead the market by commercializing next-generation QD (Quantum Dot) display technology to cope with oversupply and panel price declines caused by intensified competition.
QD displays use QD (Quantum Dot) materials, ultra-fine semiconductor particles that emit light when exposed to light or current, enabling richer and more accurate color reproduction. Structurally flexible, they also allow design innovations such as foldable displays, making them next-generation display technology.
