Korea Railroad Extends Free Seating Expansion Period... Continued 'Social Distancing' Between Passengers
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 19th that it will extend the period of expanded operation of unreserved seats on KTX and Saemaeul trains, originally scheduled until the 20th of this month, until next month.
Earlier, KORAIL doubled the number of designated unreserved carriages from 194 to 373 starting from the 9th. Currently, unreserved seats are operated in 2 to 5 carriages on 154 KTX trains and 2 carriages on 20 Saemaeul trains.
Unreserved seats are seats in designated carriages where passengers can sit freely during weekday commuting hours.

KORAIL is expanding and maintaining unreserved seats to protect passengers by ensuring social distancing among regular ticket holders amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to participate in ‘social distancing’ efforts for the swift end of COVID-19.
