"Overcoming COVID-19" LG HelloVision Conducts Volunteer Work Untact
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), LG HelloVision employees have engaged in "untact volunteering." As part of the "non-face-to-face home volunteering," they are making and supporting hygiene products for vulnerable groups.
On the 19th, LG HelloVision announced that it will carry out volunteer activities by making and distributing hygiene products directly to neighbors who are struggling to prevent infectious diseases due to a shortage of masks. The hygiene products include "KF94 filter-replaceable masks" and "toy soap," which can be made alone at home using an assembly KIT, making it a customized home volunteering suitable for the current situation requiring appropriate distancing.
A total of 140 LG HelloVision employees participate in the volunteering activities, including 100 people making "filter-replaceable masks" and 40 people making "toy soap." The completed hygiene products will be delivered at the end of March to elderly living alone at the Eunpyeong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (masks) and children in study rooms under the Korea Regional Children's Center Association (toy soap).
To prevent infectious diseases among participating employees and neighbors receiving hygiene products, hygiene and safety are prioritized even during volunteer activities. Hand sanitizing and mask-wearing are mandatory when assembling the kits, and all finished products undergo sterilization before donation. Separately, LG HelloVision also provides hygiene kits consisting of masks, hand sanitizers, soap, thermometers, and relief food to vulnerable neighbors in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, the regions most affected by COVID-19. The recipients include 150 disabled residents and 200 elderly paper collectors and single-parent families living in the area.
Additionally, to enable long-term and continuous donations for socially marginalized groups, an "employee regular donation program" will be introduced. This program allows employees to voluntarily donate a certain amount from their monthly salary to participate in community development and care for marginalized neighbors. The aim is to shift from one-time company-centered donations to voluntary and regular donations led by employees, ensuring more stable support for vulnerable groups in the community.
