View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Kim Jeong-hwa, co-representative of the Minsaeng Party, stated on the 18th regarding the decision by the Daean New Party and Democratic Peace Party factions to participate in the proportional representation coalition party through an emergency Supreme Council meeting, “The chairmanship of the Supreme Council meeting belongs to me. The meeting that decided participation in the proportional representation coalition party was merely a briefing session,” and added, “Even if the party leader can convene a meeting at the request of one-third of the total Supreme Council members, I never agreed to convene this meeting. Going forward, as the registered representative, I will exercise my authority according to the party constitution and regulations.”
In a statement released that day, Co-representative Kim said, “Park Joo-hyun, co-representative, who had previously expressed intentions to resign several times, led a briefing session that violated the party’s founding spirit and platform policies, thereby taking the lead in such acts,” and added, “Is this not an attempt to sell the Minsaeng Party to the proportional Democratic Party, which is fronted by the ‘Protecting Cho Kuk (formerly the Dogfight National Movement Headquarters) Citizen Platform’? It is time to honestly reveal true intentions.”
He pointed out, “The resolution of the parliamentary meeting that decided participation in the proportional representation coalition party has no effect,” and explained, “Article 57 of the party constitution and regulations requires that major policies and major bills be approved by at least two-thirds of the total members. The quorum for the resolution at the meeting on the 17th was not met, so it has no effect.”
He continued, “Even if they claim the resolution is valid, it exceeded the functions and authority of the parliamentary meeting as defined by the party constitution and regulations,” and added, “The parliamentary meeting only has authority over major policies or major bills of the party, but does not have the authority to decide the party’s direction.”
