All-New Avante First Reveal... Pre-Orders Begin on the 25th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Motor Company held a world premiere event on the 18th (Korean time) in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA, unveiling the ‘All New Avante’ for the first time in the world and revealed the main specifications ahead of pre-orders starting on the 25th of this month.
This world premiere event was broadcast live without an audience to major regions worldwide including Korea, North America, China, and Australia due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In the US (locally named ‘All New Elantra’), it will be released this fall, and in Korea, the official launch will be next month.
Jose Munoz, Hyundai Motor’s Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of North America Division (President), stated, "Since its launch in 1990, the Avante has been an important model for Hyundai’s global success beyond the US, and especially the 7th generation All New Avante introduced this time has transformed into a progressive and dynamic model in every aspect.”
Hyundai Motor said that the All New Avante announced this time features ▲a bold design embodying the future ▲solid fundamentals created by the 3rd generation new platform ▲advanced convenience features beyond its class ▲efficient yet dynamic driving performance as its biggest characteristics.
The newly announced All New Avante’s engine lineup consists of two options: Smartstream gasoline 1.6 MPi (maximum output 123ps, maximum torque 15.7 kgf·m) and 1.6 LPi (maximum output 120ps, maximum torque 15.5 kgf·m), with the 3rd generation new platform applied for the first time. Hybrid and N line versions will be released in the future.
In terms of design, it features ▲a lowered height and seat position suitable for a sporty design ▲best-in-class wheelbase, improved legroom, headroom, and shoulder room, resulting in excellent spaciousness. The overall length is 4650mm (+30mm compared to the previous model), width 1825mm (+25mm), height 1420mm (-20mm), giving it a sporty design, and the wheelbase is 2720mm (+20mm), securing best-in-class interior space.
Safety features include ▲Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist ▲Lane Keeping Assist ▲Lane Departure Prevention Assist ▲Lane Departure Warning ▲Driver Attention Warning ▲High Beam Assist as standard.
Key functions include ▲‘Personalized Profile’ that remembers driver-specific characteristics ▲‘Voice Recognition Vehicle Control’ allowing climate control by voice ▲‘Car-to-Home’ function enabling checking and controlling home IoT devices from the vehicle, applied for the first time in a domestic compact sedan. Additionally, through Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, vehicle entry and ignition are possible via a smartphone application without a key (smart key).
Hyundai Motor will start pre-orders for the ‘All New Avante’ from the 25th of this month and plans to hold various events. Also, on the 19th, detailed explanations of the interior and exterior of the ‘All New Avante’ can be experienced in VR on Hyundai Motor’s YouTube channel.
