North Korea mocks "Ministry of Unification as Nunchibu, Gongbapbu, Puppetbu"
"The existence has long become meaningless" Criticism
President Moon Jae-in and North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un are shaking hands ahead of the second inter-Korean summit on May 26, 2018, at the Tongilgak in the northern area of Panmunjom.
On the 17th, North Korea criticized the Ministry of Unification, saying, "Although it is called the Ministry of Unification, its existence has long been meaningless."
The South Korean propaganda outlet Uriminzokkiri, in an article titled "Gongbapbu" on the same day, referred to the Ministry of Unification's recent announcement of the "2020 Ministry of Unification Major Work Promotion Plan" and the publication of unification education textbooks, stating, "It seems they are trying to save face, but that cannot cover up the incompetence of the 'Gongbapbu' nor absolve them of responsibility."
The outlet criticized the Ministry's recent actions as "making a fuss," adding, "They apparently do not know how the overall trend is flowing or how the public views and treats them."
Uriminzokkiri said, "(Although the Ministry of Unification) claims to specialize in inter-Korean relations issues, even when they try to say a word or move their limbs, they have only shown an embarrassing appearance of having to watch the United States' eyes, so such criticism is deserved."
It continued, "How disgusting must their behavior be, oppressed by their American masters and unable to do their own work properly, for the South Korean people to criticize the Ministry of Unification as 'Gongbapbu', 'Nobokbu', 'Nunchibu', and 'Kkokdugaksibu'?" raising its voice.
Uriminzokkiri emphasized, "Even while being shunned by the nation and public sentiment, they still try to show off as if they are doing something, which is truly pitiful."
On the 12th, Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, supervised an artillery unit's artillery firing competition and instructed that such training competitions continue in the future, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 13th.
