Theodor Currentzis Concert Ultimately Canceled "Looking Forward to a Moment of a Better Future"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The highly anticipated performance of 'Theodor Currentzis & Musica Aeterna' by classical music enthusiasts this year has ultimately been canceled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The concert planning company Vincero announced on the 16th that the first Korea tour of 'Theodor Currentzis & Musica Aeterna,' scheduled to be held at Lotte Concert Hall on April 7-8, has been canceled.
Currentzis is a Greek-born conductor who has stirred the global music scene with his radical interpretations. He was set to perform Beethoven's symphonies and violin concertos with Musica Aeterna, the Russian orchestra he founded.
However, due to entry restrictions such as mandatory self-quarantine after arrival caused by the spread of COVID-19, the Korea tour became impossible, leading to the cancellation of the performance.
Currentzis and Musica Aeterna stated, "We were very much looking forward to our first performance in Korea and meeting Korean audiences, who are famously passionate about music and the arts. However, due to entry restrictions such as mandatory self-quarantine after arrival, which many countries worldwide are implementing because of COVID-19, the Korea tour has become impossible. We express our regret over this unavoidable situation." They added, "Music transcends everything and heals all. We look forward to sharing our music with Korean audiences in a better future."
