On the morning of the 16th, May Mothers' House (Director Lee Myung-ja) and Mo & Miracle Clinic (Director Kang Hyo) made 518 Jumeokbap lunchboxes at Bap Concert in Dong-gu, the first specialty store of Gwangju Jumeokbap, and delivered them to Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center, designated as a regional base hospital for COVID-19 and operating a 24-hour emergency system.
Mo & Miracle Clinic sponsored 10 million won for all expenses related to the Gwangju Jumeokbap delivered to Daegu this time.
The Gwangju Jumeokbap lunchbox set consists of three types: the original glutinous rice Jumeokbap unique to Gwangju, Jumeokbap made with aged kimchi, and turmeric glutinous rice Jumeokbap made with turmeric, which is good for boosting immunity, along with stir-fried anchovies, stir-fried kimchi, salted seafood, fruits, and fruit and vegetable juice, containing the taste, nutrition, and the love of the May Mothers.
Additionally, a support postcard saying “Cheer up Daegu! We support you Gwangju!” was sent together with the lunchbox to convey the meaning of sharing Gwangju Jumeokbap during difficult times and to express Gwangju’s support for Daegu.
In particular, Director Lee Myung-ja of May Mothers' House and the mothers, who distributed Jumeokbap to citizens during the May 18 Democratic Movement, personally made 518 Gwangju Jumeokbap to cheer for the citizens and medical staff of Daegu, adding more significance.
Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, also personally made and packed Gwangju Jumeokbap lunchboxes that morning and helped load them into vehicles, praying for the swift end of COVID-19 and the health of Daegu citizens.
Director Lee Myung-ja of May Mothers' House said, “Upon hearing that Daegu is struggling due to the spread of COVID-19, we rolled up our sleeves with the May Mothers to send a little support,” and added, “As part of the Moonlight Alliance, we made Gwangju Jumeokbap containing the spirit of sharing and solidarity of Gwangju, hoping Daegu can overcome COVID-19.”
