Gwangju Nam-gu, 'Mask Home Delivery' for Pediatric Cancer Patients in the District
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is conducting a 'mask home delivery' service for pediatric cancer patients in the district who must wear masks at home due to weakened immunity.
According to Nam-gu on the 16th, district office staff will visit the homes of pediatric cancer patients registered at the public health center from the 16th to the 19th to prevent COVID-19 infection, providing children's cotton masks and adult KF94 masks through the mask home delivery service.
Since pediatric cancer patients have weakened immunity due to chemotherapy or need to prevent deterioration of their health condition, they must block infection sources from outside on their own. Therefore, the staff decided to visit each home and deliver masks directly.
In particular, pediatric cancer patients and their guardians live wearing masks both indoors and outdoors to block infection sources. Since pediatric cancer patients cannot reuse masks, they require at least one mask per day, causing difficulties due to unstable supply and demand.
The masks delivered to each home this time are for pediatric cancer patients registered at Nam-gu Public Health Center between 2017 and 2019. Due to recent sharp increases in demand and difficulties in purchasing masks, 10 masks per person will be provided.
As of this year, children under 10 years old with pediatric cancer will receive 10 children's cotton masks, and patients aged 10 and above will receive 10 adult KF94 masks.
