Cadillac XT6 Launches... Showdown with GV80 and GLE
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Cadillac officially launches the luxury large 3-row sport utility vehicle (SUV) ‘XT6’ and begins full-scale sales. Priced in the mid-80 million KRW range, this model maximizes interior livability and is set for a showdown with Genesis GV80 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Cadillac Korea unveiled the new XT6 online on the 16th at Cadillac House. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the launch event was held via social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube instead of an offline event.
Cadillac Korea describes the XT6 as a ‘wider, safer, and more stylish luxury large SUV.’ In particular, the seating and cargo space across all three rows are completed to be the best in its class, maximizing usability. It is equipped with an improved 3.6ℓ V6 gasoline direct injection engine as standard, delivering ▲a maximum output of 314 horsepower and ▲a peak torque of 38 kg·m. Additionally, it applies an Active Fuel Management system that deactivates two cylinders in specific situations such as steady cruising, enhancing fuel efficiency. The manufacturer’s stated combined fuel economy is 8.3 km/ℓ.
Other features include an HD-quality rear camera mirror and surround view, adaptive cruise control that adjusts speed autonomously, a warning system and haptic seats that intuitively alert the driver to surrounding dangers, automatic braking and pedestrian detection emergency braking, and night vision that improves visibility during nighttime driving, among various safety assistance technologies.
The interior is ergonomically designed to satisfy both comfortable seating for passengers and cargo capacity simultaneously. The third-row space balances with the trunk area, allowing adult passengers to sit comfortably without inconvenience, boasting a class-leading headroom space of 945mm.
Additionally, the pitch and slide function, which tilts and slides the second-row seats, facilitates easy access to the third row, and the power folding feature allows even easier seat operation. When folding the second and third rows, the trunk can accommodate up to 2229L, the largest cargo capacity in its class.
Notably, the XT6 is the only model in its class to receive the highest rating, the ‘2020 Top Safety Pick Plus,’ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), one of the most authoritative safety evaluation organizations in the United States.
