"Love Received from the Community, Must Be Returned to the Community"
Graduates of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju 'Small Business Academy' Donate 5 Million Won for COVID-19 Relief Fund
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] In Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, donations are continuously being made to help neighbors struggling due to the impact of COVID-19.
On the 13th, according to Gwangsan-gu (District Mayor Kim Samho), the first graduating class (President Lee Gijin) of the 'Small Business Academy,' which was held from May to July last year to strengthen the management capabilities of self-employed business owners, donated 5 million won.
The academy graduates have continued to build networks and maintain study meetings even after the training.
They applied what they learned at the academy to their own stores, shared and spread it through merchant networks, achieving considerable results such as increased sales.
This donation was promoted with the intention of returning the benefits gained through the help of the local community to the elderly in the area.
President Lee Gijin said, "I heard that it has become difficult for elderly people living alone at home to have meals as welfare centers have been closed due to COVID-19," and added, "We gathered the sincerity of the graduates with the mindset of giving back the love received from the community."
Kim Samho, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, stated, "At last year's Small Business Academy graduation ceremony, merchants pledged profit creation, coexistence, and sharing, and today they have put it into practice," and added, "I hope the merchants who have taken on this good cause will also lead the revitalization of the local economy."
