On the afternoon of the 13th, Kwak Jin, head of the Epidemiological Investigation and Patient Management Team at the Central Disease Control Headquarters, stated in a briefing, "Among the confirmed COVID-19 cases, a total of 91 people are currently classified as severe or higher, and among them, 59 patients are classified as critical."
Severe patients are those who can breathe on their own but have symptoms such as pneumonia that cause oxygen saturation to drop, requiring oxygen therapy, or have a fever of 38.5 degrees Celsius or higher.

Critical patients refer to those who are on mechanical ventilation or using an artificial heart-lung machine called ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). ECMO is a device that supplies oxygen to blood taken out of the patient's body and returns it back when the patient's lungs and heart are not functioning properly to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide.
