Public Nominations Open from the 16th for Gwangju Metropolitan City Citizen Award Candidates
Until April 14... Five Categories Including Social Service, Academic, Arts, Sports, and Economic Promotion
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 12th that it will publicly recruit candidates for the ‘34th Gwangju Metropolitan City Citizen Award 2020’ from the 16th of this month to April 14th.
The Citizen Award, now in its 34th year, is an honorable award given to citizens of Gwangju who have made significant contributions to the advancement of scholarship and the creative development of culture and arts, and who have clear achievements in enhancing the city’s honor and regional development.
So far, a total of 149 recipients have been selected, including 141 individuals and 8 organizations. Awardees serve as members of the City Administration Advisory Council and the Citizen Award Screening Committee, and receive honors such as invitations to various major events.
The Citizen Award is divided into five categories: social service, academics, arts, sports, and regional economic promotion, with one recipient selected from each category. This year, the scope of the arts category has been expanded to include those who have contributed to the development of cultural infrastructure and content.
Eligibility requires residency registered in Gwangju for at least three years as of the announcement date (March 16), and meeting the requirements for each category.
Candidates must be recommended by heads of various institutions, leaders of social organizations, presidents or deans of colleges or higher, or by at least 20 citizens.
Applicants should prepare documents including a recommendation letter, achievement report, resume, resident registration abstract, consent form for personal information collection, and other supporting evidence, and submit them by visiting the City Hall’s Autonomous Administration Division or by mail. Recommended candidates will be reviewed by the Citizen Award Screening Committee, and recipients will be selected and awarded at the 55th Citizen’s Day ceremony on May 21.
