National Assembly Welfare Committee Approves 4.6 Trillion Won Supplementary Budget... 1.6 Trillion Won Increase Compared to Government Proposal
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee approved a supplementary budget of 4.5879 trillion won, which is 1.6208 trillion won more than the government's original proposal of 2.9671 trillion won.
On the morning of the 12th, the Welfare Committee held a plenary session and approved the "2020 First Supplementary Budget" and the "Emergency Medical Fund Operation Plan Amendment."
The item with the largest increase was the monthly 100,000 won gift certificate payment project for child allowance recipients. The Welfare Committee expanded the payment target to elementary school students under the age of 13, increasing the budget by 1.2117 trillion won.
In addition, funds were allocated for medical institution management stabilization loans (500 billion won) to compensate for losses caused by COVID-19, and compensation for losses to medical institutions, pharmacies, and quarantine facilities (406 billion won).
The budget also included an increase in personal protective equipment purchase funds (100 billion won), new activity allowances for medical staff (19.5 billion won), an additional 120 negative pressure hospital beds (42 billion won), and support for the establishment and operation of five regional infectious disease specialized hospitals (12 billion won and 108 billion won).
