Yuseonghun, Geumcheon District Mayor, Supports Good Rent Campaign
Geumcheon-gu's 'Warm Heart' Good Rent Campaign Spreads... Considering Support Measures for Commercial Building Maintenance Fees for Landlords Who Reduce Rent
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) is seeing local building owners voluntarily participating in rent reductions.
To ease the rent burden on small business owners struggling due to the spread of COVID-19, a "Good Rent" campaign, where building owners temporarily reduce rents, is spontaneously taking place in Geumcheon-gu as well.
In the Doksan-dong "Matnaneun Street" shopping district of Geumcheon-gu, Building Owner A decided to reduce the rent by 600,000 KRW per month for three stores over three months, and Building Owner B agreed to reduce rent by 200,000 to 300,000 KRW for six stores for one month. Two building owners in Hyundai Market also joined the "Good Rent" campaign by reducing rent by 200,000 KRW per month for three stores over two months.
Additionally, three small business owners operating stores in the area shared warm news, saying, "Our respective landlords have agreed to reduce rent by 200,000 KRW per month for three months, 750,000 KRW per month for three months, and 200,000 KRW per month for twelve months."
On the 10th, Mayor Yuseonghun posted on his Facebook, "We are working together with the central government in Geumcheon-gu to revive the economy of our society, which has been stagnated by COVID-19. I hope the Good Rent campaign spreads nationwide, and I participate with a desperate heart," delivering a message of support.
The district office is discussing with Seoul City a plan to support building owners who reduce rent during the COVID-19 crisis by providing maintenance and management costs for commercial buildings proportional to the amount of rent reduction.
