KOSPI Plummets to 1900 Level... KOSDAQ Falls Below 600 Level
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] On the 11th, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ fell by nearly 3% and 4%, respectively.
On that day, the KOSPI closed at 1,908.27, down 54.66 points (2.78%) from the previous trading day.
The KOSPI opened at 1,965.67, up 2.74 points (0.14%) from the previous trading day, but fluctuated within a box range in the early session before the downward trend deepened in the afternoon. During the session, it fell as low as 1,898.27, breaking below the 1,900 level.
In the securities market, foreigners and institutions net sold 700.2 billion KRW and 464.6 billion KRW, respectively. On the other hand, individuals net bought 1.0817 trillion KRW.
By sector, chemicals (-2.18%), non-metallic minerals (-2.67%), and pharmaceuticals (-3.09%) declined, while banks rose slightly by 0.07%.
All of the top 10 companies by market capitalization were in a downtrend. Samsung Electronics (-4.58%), SK Hynix (-4.04%), and Samsung Biologics (-2.42%) all fell.
The KOSDAQ closed at 595.61, down 24.36 points (3.93%) from the previous session, breaking below the 600 level.
The KOSDAQ opened at 621.12, up 1.15 points (0.19%) from the previous session, remained flat for a while, then dropped sharply in the afternoon.
In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners and institutions net sold 260.6 billion KRW and 62.5 billion KRW, respectively, while individuals net bought 323.9 billion KRW.
By sector, IT components (-4.14%), manufacturing (-4.08%), chemicals (-3.51%), and non-metallic (-4.58%) were in decline.

Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization in the KOSDAQ market, Seegene (7.86%) was the only one to rise. Others such as Celltrion Healthcare (-3.08%), HL Biopharma (-5.14%), CJ ENM (-5.38%), and Pearl Abyss (-3.64%) fell.
