The district will distribute free masks as follows: 4 masks each to about 4,100 basic livelihood security recipients aged 60 and over, 10 masks each to 151 children residing in child care facilities, and 3 masks each to 541 workers at social welfare living facilities such as nursing homes where group infection is a concern.
This measure follows the mayor’s directive to “establish active distribution measures so that vulnerable residents do not have difficulty securing masks.”
For basic livelihood security recipients aged 60 and over, welfare planners, visiting nurses, and welfare account holders at each neighborhood community center will notify them by phone about the distribution and guide them on how to receive the masks in person. For residents with mobility difficulties, masks will be delivered directly to them.
Regarding child care facilities and social welfare living facilities, the responsible departments of the district office (Child and Youth Division, Senior Welfare Division, Social Welfare Division, Women and Family Division) will handle the distribution.
On the 5th, the district also distributed 5 masks each to about 1,500 pregnant women in the area through neighborhood community centers. Upon securing an additional supply of about 20,000 masks, the district immediately decided to distribute them urgently.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “Although the quantity is small in a situation where securing masks is not easy, we selected priority places focusing on vulnerable groups and proceeded with distribution.”
Previously, Seodaemun-gu distributed 110,000 masks to local medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics, welfare institutions for seniors, children, and the disabled, and small business owners in traditional markets and alleyway commercial districts where contact with unspecified many people is frequent.
