Bank of Korea appoints Ihwanseok, Director of the Research Bureau, as new Deputy Governor
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunbyeol Kim] The Bank of Korea announced on the 9th that it has appointed Lee Hwan-seok, Director of the Research Department, to the vacant position of Deputy Governor.
The newly appointed Deputy Governor Lee is a research policy expert who has accumulated extensive experience mainly in policy departments such as the Research Department and the Monetary Policy Department since joining the bank in 1991. He has served as Director of the Financial Markets Department and Director of the Financial Markets Bureau, and has been serving as Director of the Research Department since March 2018.
During his tenure as Director of the Financial Markets Bureau, Deputy Governor Lee worked to stabilize financial markets through effective open market operations in response to increased external uncertainties and financial market instability.
