Emart Launches 'Electroman Air Purifier'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Emart announced on the 9th that it will launch the 'Electroman Air Purifier.'
The 'Electroman Air Purifier' introduced by Emart this time has a clean area of 49㎡ (14 pyeong) and was designed by Stefano Giovannoni, one of the world's top three industrial designers. The price is 159,000 KRW, about 30% cheaper compared to similar products.
Emart explained that the reason they could offer the Electroman Air Purifier at an affordable price was due to 'Stefano Giovannoni's design donation' and focusing on core air purification technology while minimizing additional features.
The manufacturer of the Electroman Air Purifier, 'DK Co., Ltd.,' is a strong small and medium-sized enterprise equipped with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for major corporate home appliance parts and finished products, as well as its own brand.
In 2017, 'DK' participated in the Gwangju Design Biennale, where its technology and production capabilities were recognized. At that time, Stefano Giovannoni, who was a judge, provided his design free of charge, and this design was applied to the Electroman Air Purifier, reducing design costs.
Also, by focusing on the core technology of air purification and boldly removing additional functions such as AI features, mobile control, and anion purification, production costs were reduced.
The Electroman Air Purifier displays indoor pollution levels in four stages, allowing visual confirmation of room pollution, and consists of a three-stage filter system: pre-filter, deodorization filter, and dust collection filter, focusing on the purifier's primary function.
The pre-filter removes animal hair, lint, hair, and large dust particles. The deodorization filter removes harmful gases, cigarette smoke, food odors, and other household odors, while the dust collection filter removes ultrafine dust and fine particles.
Meanwhile, the air purifier market is growing annually due to the persistent yellow dust and fine dust.
According to industry estimates, the air purifier market, which was 1 million units in 2016, increased about 2.5 times to 2.5 million units in 2019, and it is expected to exceed 3 million units this year. Emart's air purifier sales also showed a 56.6% increase in 2019 compared to the previous year, and a 41.5% increase from January to February 2020.
Furthermore, as concerns about ultrafine dust, which is smaller than fine dust, have emerged, more consumers want to have one air purifier per room rather than one per household, so this growth trend is expected to continue for the time being.
